About
I create and develop purposeful programs, bringing people and ideas together, solving problems, and building partnerships. I've done this work in a range of settings, including with teams at UNICEF, the NeuroLeadership Institute, Columbia University's Earth Institute, and most recently Pioneer Works, a cultural center on the waterfront in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Since 2019, I've produced the live science programs at Pioneer Works, including one-off events and the signature series Scientific Controversies, Science & Society, and Science vs. Fiction. I work closely with the director of sciences to steward and cultivate a platform for a wide range of voices, from Nobel laureates and leading scientists to major cultural figures like Werner Herzog, Sir Roger Penrose, N.K. Jemisin, Jennifer Egan, Michael Pollan, and Gloria Steinem. Alongside that platform, I find and develop hands-on experiences, including workshops, installations, and activations, that invite audiences to engage directly rather than simply absorb. I love all kinds of storytelling and learning, and I'm particularly passionate about imagination, the environment, and sustainability. This year I served on the feature documentary jury at the Climate Film Festival and worked with Wellcome to build and produce a marquee event at Climate Week NYC.
Before Pioneer Works, I spent five years at a conflict resolution consortium within Columbia's Earth Institute (now part of the Columbia Climate School). There I worked closely with an environmental research scientist on strategic communications and managed a fellowship program supporting grassroots research projects, and the people carrying them out, around the world. I came to that role with formal study in arts education, rooted in Maxine Greene's idea of the social imagination; emergency relief work abroad in Jordan and locally in the Rockaways; and a master's in public administration that grounded me in sustainability and global development. Years of teaching English as a second language and working in adult education led me to those pursuits.
At my core, I help people and projects find their footing and their voice. That began in classrooms and in relief work, and it carries into how I produce programs today: making big ideas open, participatory, and alive for anyone who walks through the door. My favorite part of the work is telling stories that lead to action.
